Target Calorie Intake Achievements for Patients Treated in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit

Adequate nutritional support in critically ill patients is important, however, sometimes it has been neglected perioperative period of at surgical intensive care units (SICU). The aim this study was to investigate whether approaching target calorie intake influences on their clinical outcomes. A total 279 who admitted SICU from August 2014 July 2016 our hospital were analyzed. Demographics, supplied amount and its method, lengths stay, mortality population collected. Among patients, 103 patietns (36.9%) approached during stay. Patients had significantly decreased length stay (10.78 ± 11.5 vs. 15.3 9.9, p = 0.001) (54.52 40.6 77.72±62.2, < 0.001), than those did not, however there no significant difference (9.7% 8.5%, 0.829). Enteral feeding a factor for achievement (odd ratio [OR], 2.029; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.096-3.758; 0.024) especially with ≤ 7 days (OR, 4.13; CI, 1.505-11.328; 0.006). Target improves outcomes enteral feeding, early postoperative would be an effective route nutrition.
